Fire extinguishers...

What’s the point in having all different colours of extinguisher?
Only the blue, Powder, one is to be used on all materials.

No point, as far as I can see, in the red, yellow, black or green varieties.

I reckon most people would just grab the nearest one, in the event of a fire, and just loose it off in the general direction of the flames, whatever was burning!

Green ones tend to be smaller, Red tends to be the largest. So most would grab the largest.

Green is now illegal anyway.

Whenever we had a fire in the Foundries I've worked in (several times daily) we just slung a shovel of casting sand at it.

Can't use the powder extinguisher in enclosed spaces though - toxic when inhaled.
