Ah, the green goddesses. I remember the trumpton strike of 2003(?) when the army were providing cover with these old relics, and they were antiquated beyond belief. I, as were many bobbies, were spanking the overtime at double bubble escorting the green goddesses everywhere as the drivers didn't know their areas, didn't have blue light authority, and were rather slow.

Anyway, teenagers and assorted sheets would often turn out to throw stones and stuff at trumpton back then. When the little Herbert's tried this with the army it was all we could do to stop the squaddies turning the hoses on them.

One of the garages, on the outskirts of Dewsbury, until recently had one as a recovery truck
I drove past today, & I know it's been off the forecourt for quite a while, but it may still be at the rear, 'sheeted over'?
(A653, from jct 28/M62 to Dewsbury)
A 981(?) as it has the bumper cut-out for the winch cable

Having looked
If you zoom in, it appears to be under the tarp, at the rear

I passed Heybeck Garage on my way to Batley yesterday, but even though I had to stop at the traffic-lights, vehicles behind me precluded my stopping
It is sheeted over at the rear of the premises, and either in red-primer, or simply rusty
I'll try to have a ride that way, at some point, to try & photograph it

And, of course the temptation to look the other way, or go back to the car for something must have been almost irresistable?

It was extremely tempting to have a sneezing fit or be momentarily distracted by something imaginarily suspicious in the other direction, but the worry was that once they'd drowned the herberts they would then put the boot in. Personally, that would have bothered me not one jot, but the Chief Freemason may have been a bit upset with me.
