First auto pilot car fatality

Safety comes before aesthetics. You will be driving a box with 4 wheels that all look the same.....one day
I remember some years ago when the drag coefficient was the selling point for cars

Each model was tested and sold on how efficient they were, the additional speed for less fuel etc

However once this "race started" it became evident that the optimum shape was singular and all cars started to look alike

Then the selling point became the fact that a car may be slightly less efficient, but it was different - people paid extra for a car that was now more individual

I have a feeling that unless stopped by legislation, a campaign for real driving will stop or slow the expansion of auto driving

I assumed a driverless cars would actually involve a driver sitting in the drivers seat with his foot on the pedal but not on the steering wheel. Exactly the way a combine harvester works. A satellite signal is very weak and to get the accuracy right in variable location, require an expensive sat nav. £15,000 I read.

Not sure what the costings will work out at but soon Galileo, the global navigation satellite system will be complete and this in theory should make accuracy for non-military grade stuff a lot better. Plans to be using this stuff are being hatched all through logistics.
