:welcome: A lot of people have their seats far too low, then wonder how we cycle for hours on ours. Your leg should be close to full extension at the bottom of the pedal stroke and a general 'rule of thumb' is that your leg should be straight with your heel on the pedal and your bum on the seat, that's not perfect but its a good starting point. :becool:

Thank you! I am seeing a chap tomorrow in the evening who is selling his Raleigh folding bike for well within my budget, to try before I buy as it were. He is only a half hour walk from my house so I am hoping all goes well and I can cycle it home!

Don't forget to take some good lights with you and some reflective clothing!

Alas i do not have any lights, but I do have a bright reflective vest from when I used to do seasonal work for a certain big online retailer. I will be going about 6pm, so hopefully it wont be too dark.

It's against the law to ride a bike without lights (and on the pavement if that was the plan)...go get some from Poundland, Tesco or similar. A yellow vest doesn't work in the dark, only the reflective bits

Sunset tomorrow in Dunfermline is at 18.14 so it will be dark

You might want to get some cycling gloves to protect your hands and consider a helmet (but that's entirely up to you)
