First Bus seem to take a bit of stick on these forums but I had a nice experience with them to-day

Was cycling along a normal country A-road which was quite twisty and had some bends you couldn't see very far round due to trees at the roadside. I heard a large vehicle come up behind me as I was going through a series of these bends in a strong secondary position.

Looking round I saw it was the local First Bus. The driver was hanging well back and gave off no sense of impatience to pass. As I came out out of the series of bends I could see that the road ahead was clear but that the bus driver couldn't see that yet. I indicated it was OK for him to move out to overtake.

He moved well over as he was passing, gave a friendly hoot, and flashed his hazards in thanks after he had passed.

Maybe he was a fellow bike as well:smile:

I find it does happen, even in town...

I had a bus driver hang back the other day coming back into long eaton, on a slightly twisting road, looked round and gave him a thank you sign as i turned off.

It was a bartons bus, there not bad for drivers.

I had a friendly bus driver yesterday that noticed me in his mirror getting a good draft off him. Each time he got a distance on me he would slow down slightly so I could keep in the draft  This carried on for nearly 2 miles until he had to pull over at a stop where I gave him a smile and a wave as I rode past. Unfortunately he never caught up with me again.
