First commute for a while - did the proper tyre pressure make a difference?

Hello
Having been out on my new MTB more recently and not commuting by bike, this morning I decided to get back on the commuting bike. My 6 mile ride in (hilly) used to take about 30 mins, but this morning I managed it in 22 minutes! I was so pleased - I don't know whether it's me being fitter,or if me inflating the tyres with a track pump to their max pressure has made all the difference? But all in all I was very pleased with myself when I got to work today

Tyre pressure makes a big difference.

Now try lubing the chain....

Thanks.I'll give the chain a lube tomorrow morning and time myself again. The ride this morning was into the wind too!

A track pump is probably the best performance investment possible and has been known to frighten fairies away too. It is madness not to have one!
