My first today too - and it ended up being cold, with a thick frost, ice and freezing fog along my route!

Still enjoyed every second of it though - it's fantastic to be back in the saddle after the weather-enforced extended break

First day for me too! Still very chesty from a cold and definitely a little 'sturdier' than before Christmas, but its an easy enough commute.

I did notice that the mountains of grit thrown on to my local hill during the snow have no created a nice skiddy gravel track where the road used to be.

First day since end of Nov. Was very cautious because of broken arm recovery. Legs are not complaining but bottom does.

Severe frost and cold again by end of the coming weekend -4/-5C as winds from the ENE blow across the country so Spring will be over.

You know you're out of condition if when leaning forward on the bars, your tummy is hitting your legs as you pedal . Perhaps a couple too many mince pies ...............

Yesterday was my first day back since 10th December. Liftshare arrangements then became too cold and wet then and the snow and a bit of a chest infection.
The snows all gone, I got some wet weather gear for christmas, but still a bit chesty.
So back on the bike last night, 11 miles each way, within 2 minutes of best time so reasonably happy, given a couple of delays including a welfare check on a cyclist walking up the shared cycle/pavement. Out for a 3 mile run in my lunch break, a bit slower than I would have liked. The ride back this morning probably 5 minutes off pace.
Hopefully more of the same again tonight before the weather turns again.
Being I'm a lot further south than a lot of you I'm a bigger wimp. But I'll not mix it with the traffic in the snow. Locally had one moped rider killed when slid off and then run over by the following car.

My daylight ride home tonight was firstly delayed by my manager wanting to discuss work just as I was about to go, so I was 15mins late getting to the changing rooms.

Then I got out to find my front tyre completely flat; located source of leak, pulled out tube and found the source was an old patch which had given up the ghost. Ended up putting my spare inner in instead. By the time I was half-way home darkness descended - didn't help that it was pretty cloudy whereas last night it was clear and sunny.

So - first commute of 2010 and my first UDE of 2010. Good start!

Daylight ride home tomorrow, perhaps...

Yesterday was my first time since the snow arrived in December as well. I was aiming to cycle today as well but the road was to "shiny" for me to even think about it  so the car took the strain. Aiming for tomorrow now.

Certainly going to be tough going 1st week back,my saving grace is I did not start cycling til April last year so any mileage in Jan,Feb,March is a bonus for this year.

Glad I stayed with the bike through the snow.I had the fastest ride in this morning that I have had for a long time.Perhaps I have turned the corner so to speak.
