According to my calendar, the first day of Spring was Tuesday (20th March).

According to me, the first day of Spring was yesterday (Wednesday 21st March). Cyclists everywhere. Passed or overtook 8-10 odd on the way home, whereas for many months fellow pedallers have been rare sightings.

Beautiful day, if a little cold first thing (-2.3°C when I set off from home this morning...)

Shorts for this afternoons return home this afternoon if the sun keeps shining

It was a bit nippy again this morning! I was in shorts and a short-sleeved cycling jersey on the way home yesterday - averaged 17.65mph over a 16 miles commute home - as i have tomorrow off i want to beat that this afternoon....

I've laboured all winter with my commuting times. To be frank they've been embarrasing and I thought something was seriously wrong. I'd even posted in the health and fitness forum asking if I was overtraining or something.
A bit of sunshine and this morning I average 18.87mph over 9.2 miles, with getting caught at 4 sets of traffic lights!

Also, my way in has more ups than downs, so I'm hoping for somewhere close to a 20mph average on the way home, then when the shorts come out in a couple of weeks I may try to top my best from last year of a 21.29mph average!

I know there are many on here who can blow those times away, but in my defence I'm on a cyclo cross bike with panniers and rack bag, and it's not flat and there are loads of lights!

Yes spring is here, after five months in the shed my geared best bike has been brought out and checked ready for its first use of the year over the weekend, after five months on fixed with clips and straps the first ride on gears and clipless is going to be interesting.

I think that's a pretty good average speed, especially when you consider you have to complete a days work afterwards! I'm waiting to press the button on a new road bike and can't wait to see what times i can post with that - i have a 'fast hybrid' ATM.

It is fantastic.

There's a real gathering of cyclsit at almost every junction of recent and you really dont feel anywhere near as "alone" as you do in the dark winter months.

I love the new-found company and the new-found weather is a joy, in particular on the homeward journey which now treats me to some blazing sunsets and a light ride almost all the way home!

19.7 average on the way home with a very slight headwind! I reckon I'd have broken 20mph average if I'd not been wearing my heavy, thick winter gloves

I know it's very different circumstances but there's a few guys and gals in the club who regularly break the hour for 25 mile TTs so I still feel like I'm a way off the required standard.
Secondly, nothing is impressive when one of these clubmates averaged 24mph for 24hours straight last year!

18.9 average on the way home, 51.48mins for 16.3 miles, reckon I can shave a couple of minutes off that next week and my ultimate target is 45 mins.

Looking at the Bianchi Nirone 7 and the Cube Peloton SL, the Cube has a better spec on paper, but until I've ridden them both I won't make a decision!

That's good going! The club TTs start in a few weeks so I'm giving some serious consideration to entering a few and seeing just how I compare. The trouble is, it's expensive enough kitting up for commuting and club rides... if I take to the TTs then I'm looking at wheels, clip on aero bars, aero helmets etc, then probably a full on TT bike!
Perhaps I should stick to SCR?!

Not tried either of those bikes, however I did spot a chap on a Cube tonight on the way home... he was going the opposite way though so I couldn't tell you how fast they go!
