I cannot believe it first day taking my new Kinesis racelight tk2 into work and wham...a puncture!! I should have know it was going to be a bad commute this morning..rode into central Bristol and riding through Castle Park in Bristol Centre I thought there is a lot of litter around here...must have been a party..or some drunks etc...next minute hard on the brakes...glass...glass...glass, every cyclist's nightmare. I got of and walked until clear of all sharp pieces and on the commute home I took as always the cycle path..some six miles into my ride..bang! back tyre deflates and I had forgot my trusty pump  My wife was none too pleased when I called for a lift...I was mad but these things happen, but on my first ride on my new bike...eh come on God  Perhaps it is the tyres Continental grand prix 4 seasons...anyone else have this prob with them? prob just bad luck. Tomorrow I will use the Giant equipped with conti gatorskins...lets hope they do not let me down ^_^....

I had a p... first trip out on same tyres, new bike. I put it down to wrong tyres for the surface( trail with some cobbles) and my excessive weight.

I use GP 4 Seasons with no problems, then again I avoid cycle paths, apart from a few hundred metres where I have no choice.

Bad luck on the puncture . I cycled through a dark underpass the other day , normally I get off and walk through due to glass etc but in a rush chanced it and paid the price a mile down the road.

Would be interested on your opinion of the tk2 once you have covered a few miles. Its definitely one for my short list of possible next bikes. Can you get it as a triple? If not I could possibly get a larger cassette fitted.

The GPs have good protection - but broken glass will get most tyres, though it might take a few miles to work its way through the tougher tyres.

I have it on a compact...never considered a triple....all those hills in south wales:smile: I enjoyed my short commute until trouble struck and the tk2 handled really well (built with compag veloce group set)

I have the TK2, bought the frame and built it up from there. I am very happy with it and use as my winter bike / commuter.

Had zero Ps in 1500 miles on GP4 seasons. I commute in London but keep an eye out for debris.

actually I'm considering bring a small handbrush out with me and so when I run into glass do a spot of cleaning up

When I got my new bike I had 6 punctures within the first 3 months, but since then (1 yr later) no more punctures. It's just the biking gremlins playing dirty 'cause you have a new toy.

On a more serious note I was told by an ex-pro that new tyres would never be used in races as they were prone to "stickyness", whereby the preservative agent used on them whilst in the packets would pick up more crap than old tyres, thus they were more puncture prone. Not sure if this is factually correct or not, but he assured me that pro cycling teams age their tyres like wine.
