I Want To Ride To Skegness From Derbyshire This Summer And I Think Its Around 80 Miles, Up To Now I Have Only Been Mountainbiking Local And Only About 25mile Rides. I Have Sold One Mountain Bike And Bought A Trek Road Bike But Could Do With Tips On Training To Do The Distance.

Eat and drink loads and take your time.

25miles off road (and by off-road I don't mean the local dis-used railway tracks) is probably equivalent to 40/50 miles on the road so you're nearly there.

Just keep doing long rides slowly increasing your distance each time.

Eating and drinking is important -carb drinks are a good source of energy and hydration, but things like fruit / bananas, dried fruit etc are very good also - you don't need there 'energy bars'.

Build training up - maybe do a long ride each week together with plenty of shorter rides - plus 5% each week - it's a well known running and cycling recommendation. Maybe take some sports gel just in case you blow up.

You've got plenty of time to get up to that mileage.

What riding do you currently do, and what can you fit in - commuting by bike is a good start.
