I well remember my first girlfriend, Lola.

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne
It tastes just like Coca Cola, C-O-L-A cola

There was something slightly funny about her that I could never put my finger on though.

Her name was Katie
We were 14
She was a Hippy
It lasted two years
She went to Oxford and later became a Librarian for an Oxford Collage
A decade later I met the wife
Not really a hippy, and never went to a top University
But is a Liberian in Rotherhithe
I met Katie at a party a month ago, first time in 20+ years, nothing has changed and looking at the pictures she and the wife could be sisters .......

Ha ha ha! I remember going to a party where Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger' was playing. I was maybe eleven? I was wearing a halter neck polka dot dress and socks with frills on, a winner with my jelly sandals. (OMG)
I felt so grown up but the boys all stayed on one side of the room, and the girls on the other. Cringe-making.

I remember my first disco and it was much the same... boys on one side, girls on the other, no one dancing... I was about 8 or 9 and the only memorable thing is getting ribbed at school the following Monday for wearing wellies.

a good many people on this forum will have met my first serious girlfriend. The 'genteel' ride was invented for her. Almost forty years on we're still best friends.
