Hit ice for the first time this autumn/winter, 5:30 this morning on the way into the temporary workshop (don't ask), huge ice patch on a corner, started to slide, steered into it briefly but realised it was not going to help so steered away and managed a good 280 degrees or so before the ice ended and the trike straightened herself up,. Very grin worthy, missed the kerb by inches though, could have been a wheel rebuild in the making.

Off twice in the space of 50 yards this morning!! Turned onto a footbridge and went flying. Cycled along then turned off it and went again. Both times were at low speed and thankfully, nobody around to see!

It was icy on my route this morning too! I didn't realise either until I had to put my foot down and my trainer slipped on it - made me paranoid then for the rest of the way!

There's nothing you can do to help yourself once you've actually started to cycle accross it is there?

Many of the roads I have to use are off the main routes so don't get gritted, am expecting a few butt clenching moments over the next few months. Keep safe dudes.

I had an 'ice-moment' on Tuesday morning; how I kept my balance I don't know, but it was a real 6d - two bob moment.

Next day it was snow, and I did fall. Swollen elbow and knee, and bruised hip to show for it.

Fortunately no more 'winter' riding for a while!

Next time don't mention you did this on the trike. It would sooo much more impressive if you did this on an upright/upwrong....

yikes, one good thing about London's thundering traffic is that it keeps the big roads clear barring disasters

If this wasn't commuting I'd have thought you'd been to a gaming convention dressed up as sub zero. Careful out there, all these northerly winds that are cold.

Not had any ice slips yet, but i have had the back wheel slide on the fixed in the wet. Was really slippy on one courner and a few of the riders behind me went down. No idea how i kept the bike up, but kept controlle, and even had someone ask if i was showing off:laugh:
Cant be that cold, only just gone into wearing my winter cycling jacket over my 2 jerseys:becool:
