So, 14 months of commuting, a few close shaves, amazing as 50% is along trunk roads, but largely unscathed, so.....
tonight just 25 yards from home, pass a group of kids, one on a bike: look behind, indicate as I'm moving over to enter my driveway from the centre of the road to the right....
suddenly get majorly clattered and felled heavily from behind by the youth who apparently on questioning him from our pile of bodies and bent bikes, thought it would be a laugh to scalp a road bike by overtaking on the wrong side of the road!
Pretty grazed all over, bars need new tape and alignment checking, scuffed 105 rear derailleur, and bent hanging bracket to boot. What a stupid way to have an off, if he hadn't been worse of physically than me, I'd have been sorely tempted to make sure he was anyhow!
Oh well, a test of my engineering apprenticeship now required I suppose! just goes to show you need to be on your mettel all the time!

Have I got this right threshold, you were in the right side of the lane indicating right and a muppet on a bike decided to overtake you! I've had that with drivers but never a cyclist, sheez! Annoying is an understatement

Yes HLaB, incredible isn't it? And INCREDIBLY infuriating

You indicated, looked then moved over? Surely if you looked before you moved over you wouldn't have gotten hit?

That's right Doc. You just rub it in.

Nowt like kicking a man when he's down.

What's the problem?

OP doesn't admit to a mistake (although we have no idea yet if they properly looked before moving out).

OP specifically goes on to suggest they would be tempted injure (I know this is just posturing though) the other cyclist if they weren't already worse off...

I was asking the question...

I was asking the question...

So, in answer to this question!*!
I looked, indicated, looked again moved, slowed to turn, during which time the speed demon, who must have seen all this ( assuming he was paying attention, and not, as I suspect head down trying his best to 'gain a scalp), built up a massive head of speed, and effectively T-Boned me, and I suggest anyone who had this happen to them in these circumstances would have been more than a little narked, legitimately so.

is gotten an english word now?

Well yes, if you're American - granted im not and it was a mistake to pick out that word.

And if you want to be a stupid worthless pendant...
- You should capitalise English.
- Sentences start with a capital letter.
- "gotten" should have quotes.

Fair enough, sounded more like you got hit when moving right rather than the actual turn right. And as I said before I was ASKING the question.

It's aggressive enough out there on the roads, surely we don't need to be aggressive on here too?

Sorry about your off, and even more sorry that you can't claim on insurance!

Accidents happen.

(Although I think if we're honest most of us would have wanted to secretly kill the little scrote.)

Give the lad chance to sort it out. You're very unlikely to recover the full cost of the accident from him but you might get the cost of a new rear mech hanger, which is a lot better than nothing!
