I am sure this has been asked many times before but I am looking at getting into mountain biking but need some recommendations .

I have a budget of £350 and I would class myself as an intermediate cyclist but novice mountain biker

Cheers

Probably best to look for a hard tail as budget full suspension bikes tend to weigh the same as a small car!
Look in the MTB magazines for last years models and you should get something to get you started!

I agree with the above. There are many far more experienced than me on MTBs on this forum but having felt a few lower end full sus bikes the weight is amazing. Even downhill it must cause handling problems. Better quality must be the way to go.

A hard tail for sure.
You want something with a good frame and fork and decent wheels, which will affect the performance more than anything else, its easier to upgrade brakes and gears etc when they have worn out.
Have a look at the giant revel 2 @ £350.
