Had my first off this morning on the way to work after 6 months of commuting.

Cycling down empty cycle track, slowed for a corner, took the corner and then the next thing I knew I was on my back, bike on top of me. No idea how it happened, just a little shook up with a nice cut on my right knee and elbow and a sore wrist. Feel a bit gutted really, have done this route since April and confused about what happened.
Truth is, I have no idea what happened. Think I may have hit a rock/stick. Conditions were fine, warmish morning, wind was calm compared to the beginning of the week.

Front wheel seems to be buckled as the break pad is now rubbing on an area about 30mm on the rim. Is this an easy fix?
Other noticable problems was a split in the handlebar grip and my new Cat Eye main light was flung on the floor from the impact. Seems to have survived, small scratch but still works like new.

Easy fix with the front - spoke key and 5 minutes should have it sorted.

These things can happen, ICE is the least entertaining.

If on a cycle track - any trees about/overhead cover - tracks can get greasy.

Thanks for the advice reference the fix. I assume its a common fix so shall have a look on youtube.

Grease maybe the culprit, my cycle route runs pretty much parallel to the river for about 6 miles, with trees etc all over the place.

Not looking forward to ice!

As fossyant said, it should be an easy fix. I have fixed wheels which were so buckled they wouldn't turn, as the tire would hit the seat stays, with the same method before. (On an MTB, however).
