Not me, but one of my colleagues has already got 2 races under his belt up here in Lancashire - the Clayton Velo Classic on the Bashall Eaves short course and over at Aintree last week. I think he suffered a bit, Rapha turned up with a full squad both times!

You can't wriggle out of it with a feeble excuse like that. We already know you wimped out because it might rain.:biggrin:

Damn you Dave:biggrin:. In all honesty I did think it was tomorrow but it's next sunday. there isn't a single race near me this weekend in my cat

Scary would be a good discription.
It was a 5 lap race 50 miles approx. I managed to stay with the bunch as my fitness is still lacking somewhat, on the last lap with a couple of miles to go, I was tucked right in the middle of the bunch, feeling ok, doing around 27/28mph, when CRACK (it was like a rifle shot) the saddle mounting bolt sheared, the saddle went instantly, luckily I managed to stay on and didn't bring anbody else down, thank god.
So I had a 4 mile ride back to HQ with an 8mm sheared bolt protruding
from the seat post. And you guessed it, was overtaken by 2 tossers in a ford escort laughing and driving off into the distance with the farewell, WANKAAAAA.
I just hope I can get the parts, ready for next sunday

I don't think it's the racing you're avoiding, personally.

I think you don't want the responsibility and pressure to have to write up the CC Race Report afterwards.

I've nopt done anything since the last Hillingdon race due to other commitments.

Well I did one two weeks ago but it was so uneventful I didn't fill the need to bore everyone with 'went to race, had a mechanical on 4th lap, pulled off the end'

Sorry I did not mean to bore you with my race exploits, but Dave5N did ask.
and I thought it only polite to reply;)

You go for it AS. the more other people know about racing the less scary it can seem to those that are playing on the thought of should they should'nt they.

Thanks walker, I personally like hearing about other peoples racing exploits, and your right more people should give road racing a try.
I think BC should push the Go- rides a bit more.
I have just found out my ranking points total -1 as I was a DNF:sad:
