First ride in 3 months

Well done Accy, welcome back. 12 mph! you're down to my pace at the moment.

Ha ha! 12 mph Isn't too bad after 3 months off i suppose,but it won't get much better than that. If i can average 13/14 this year i'll be happy! Long gone are the days when i averaged 18/19 mph...honestly.

An average of around 13-14 mph is probably a realistic aim for me as well this year, like you I think my days of flying round with the quick lads are sadly over. I find coming across friends who are now into their seventies and haven't slowed down at all brings mixed feelings, I'm glad to see them and enjoy having a gossip, but its irritating when they say "see you later" then fly off into the distance at a speed I can no longer do.

There are a few of those on our club rides. They must've been into cycling all their lives and hardly drank and never smoked. Unlike me.

Stopping for a fag and a pint does knock the average speed down a bit.

I managed 7 miles yesterday and did 14 miles today,cycling up to the hospital for a CT scan on my hip. They seemed to think it was quite amusing that i took my bike in the hospital with me.

Well @Accy cyclist I hope you are back to normal asap.
For various reasons I have done very little recently.
Had some good news yesterday. 3 years since my 'op for cancer.........had the camera yesterday and its still showing 'clear'. That has cheered me up so, as its a nice(ish) day today I am going for a 20 miler at lunch time.
Keep fighting..........and keep posting
