Just wanted to send an update through that I went and ordered the Giant Contend SL 1, the choice was mainly due to price and the fact it's my first real road bike (excluding the old one I've rode a handful of times).
After visiting some more bike shops, and calling around a few others, it became apparent that having the luxury of sitting on bike before I purchased wasn't going to be possible for someone my size (none of the stores stocked them).
Fingers crossed the Giant XL frame size is suitable for my geometry, I'll set it up best I can upon arrival and then seek the assistance of a bike fitter if I can't get comfortable.
