I spotted a thread on Bike Radar where a guy has posted a pic of his bike with the saddle and stem in somewhat 'unconventional' positions. It has attracted a significant amount of posts with most wanting the guy to post pics of him riding his bike!

Classic timewaster-troll.

He'll string this out until it gets forgotten. He'll say he's going to take pics but the weather went bad, or his mate didn't turn up, then he'll get them and he was going to upload pics of him riding on it, but then there's a problem with the memory card, and then he'll upload them but in some weird format like a zip file that's corrupted, then say he can't do it any other way and so on and so on...

This kind of thing comes up regularly on every kind of forum.

I've never understood the appeal in this kind of playing of people, I guess they just REALLY need the attention.

After having read the thread, I reckon you're spot on. It takes about 2 minutes to take a pic with a camera phone and put it on the web.
