My only grouse is it has a front facing camera, something I hadn't heard off. I would assume front facing means it faces away from you but in fact it points at you and the only images you can take are of yourself. Daft! Why it can't have a reversible camera like the iPhone is beyond me.

Thanks for the info I am going to take a look at both 7" and 10" tabs to make my mind up.

The front facing camera is really just to use as a webcam I would of thought for video messaging using Skype and the likes. I am not bothered if a tablet has no camera at all to be honest. I have my phone for that and a proper camera with zoom etc.

BTW there is a bit of a knack to pairing an iPhone to a Nexus. It works fine but Apple don't make it straightforward. Bastards!

I have a Nexus 7 WIFI model and very happy with it.Not too big and fits in a large pocket. The only niggle is that with it being WIFI only you need to find a hotspot if you are out and about and you need on line access. But having said that there are plenty of free WIFI hotspots about now a days.

If your phone has Bluetooth pairing it with the Nexus will create your own hotspot.

One other point the, very good, voice recognition software only works when connected to the web. I don't understand why, it seems weird to send my voice to some far off server and then return the text. Good though.

I was wondering with the Ipad do you still have to use Itunes to transfer files to the device? It will not show up on a PC as a mass storage device? This is what made me buy a Sony Walkman instead of an Ipod years ago, plus it was vastly cheaper for the equivalent and was very good. Do you have to go to all the hassle of jail breaking the bloody thing?

You pay £22 a year for iTunes Match and never have to worry about syncing your iPad again.

Thanks for that I am definitely getting an android tab.

Android is your only choice if your major concern is cost.

No its not cost to be honest mate, just want the freedom to use a device how I want. I think I am going to get a Nexus 10 after everything I have read and looking at various tabs in pc world. Although they only had a nexus 7, but numerous other android tabs and ipads of various sizes.

I ended up getting 2 tablets with a view to flogging one. Basically it gave me chance to try them out properly. I got a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and a Nexus 7. My initial impressions were that the Note 10.1 is better because of it's bigger screen and the S-pen is fantastic. My 4 year old daughter seemed to enjoy using it it draw with a couple of very good paint apps that I downloaded, whether I will learn to get the full benefit out of it is a different matter. The S-pen is in a different league to using a stylus on a normal tablet.

The Nexus 7 is a fantastic device and I starting to think that this is more for me despite it's smaller screen, something I did not expect. It is great just for having a quick look at things whilst lying back on the sofa watching TV. Much easier to hold and support. I also had it out with me yesterday whilst my daughter was at soft play and I was chilling drinking coffee. The size of it is so much better for this situation. It is obviously not as good for watching films as the Note but I am kind of thinking that I will hardly ever do this in reality. It also has a better screen for text than the Note has. The lack of an SD micro slot does not bother me as I got the 32GB model. It is a fantastic device and I like the lack of bloatware, but then again some of the bloatware on the Note is for use with the S-Pen such as a version of Photoshop, S-note for making hand writing notes which is really good. If my daughter tires of the painting programs I will probably get rid of it as I honestly cannot see me taking the time to get the most of the features of the Note with it's S-pen.

It's the size of the Nexus 7 that I like which I initially thought I wouldn't. It is hardly portable like a phone, but much easier to bring along somewhere than a 10" tablet and also more comfortable to use. Shame it does not have a mini HDMI socket, but again not the end of the world.

Love my Galaxy Note 10.1, but I wish I'd saved some £'s and got the Tab2 as I simply don't use the S-Pen TBH, love the rest of it though.

Yes there is that, but I tried a Tab 2 in PC World and it seemed a bit sluggish when scrolling though the main display screens. Hardly the end of the world, but that is what put me off it. The Note 10.1 with it's quad core processor and extra RAM simply does not do this. It has way better hardware than the Tab 2.
