Has anyone been to Fields' chip shop in Esh Winning recently?

Does it still have a coal fired range? It had the distinction of being the last of its type in County Durham and I've not visited it this century.

Everyone will have their own favourite local Chippy!
Anyone here know The Deep Sea opposite the Queen's Hotel in Dundee... best steak sausage supper anywhere in the world!

Steeles in Cleethorpes used to be cracking fish and chips. Ramsdens went down hill as soon s they started franchising out, proved by the fact the original outlet in Guiseley no longer exists. Mother Hubbards in Bradford also used to be a cracking chippy with queues around the building until they where also taken over and franchised (also by Merryweathers iirc)

Despite living near Harry Ramsdens flagship/original chip shop for thirty five years, I have yet to sample fish and chips from there.

The original in Guiseley is no longer HR but is still a chippy and not a bad one either.

Just wish I lived closer than 300 miles! Only get to go once a year when holidaying in Cornwall.
Although probably good for the waist line that I live so far away.
Well worth a visit.
A good choice. Not so tempting since they built the bypass. If you don’t mind queuing then try the Chip shop in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Never known there not to be a queue.

I was persuaded to go to Rick Stein’s fish and chip restaurant, in Falmouth, last night. £12.50 for fish and chips, which included a spoonful of mushy peas but no bread and butter and no cup of tea. Place was full. Not an experience I will be repeating any day soon!

I remember when you couldn’t carry £12.50 worth of Fish & Chips, let alone eat them

Well my New Years Day ride will be stopping off at Compo's fish and chips eatery on the outskirts of Holmfirth. It has been there a long time and does have a decent reputation so I will report back once I have established the facts :hungry:
