When I first went to support my club running at a Hampshire League cross country race at a local park, I was surprised to see many of the girls running in what seemed to be little more than bikinis. One of my female club mates described them as running in their underwear. All the same, I don't think those pictures are particularly pervy. They're senior women (i.e. over 18). Similar pictures are printed in athletics magazines.

Given the amount of repressive rhetoric flying around, it's surprising their is any population growth in this country.

Welcome to being a heterosexual male in 'great' britain.

Hello, I'm CP, I have a penis, and I am a bad person.

Sounds like some people are just fawning appologists, bleating their vicarious disapproval for any positive attention and clique inclusion.

Just be yourself, it's more fun.

Calm down dear, now you're getting emotional. Everything belongs in its proper place, that post did not. The 'positive attention' was hardly a mark of acceptance amongst seasoned cross-country runners, it - and the superficial rational behind the intent - was to have a good perv. Fair enough, but essentially it is glorified 'voyeurism'.

It is natrual we'll find women attractive, especially when they are fit (an increasingly rare phenomena due to our shoddy diet, and lack of excercise, and immature and facile materialistic behaviours.) However, it is indignified for it to have reached this extent.

Since we appear to be fans of examples here is one: you may find your friends wife / girlfriend rather attractive, you may even get a good eyeful, but to take a picture of her without her knowledge nor consent (especially when it is obviously spicy) and distribute it in a public forum for anyone to get an eyefull is ethically dubious. Afterall, you wouldn't both share pictures of eachothers significant others...unless you're under 18, generally unrefined, or one of 'them'.

Sheesh, where's TheClaud when you want her. She's always going on about me being sexist* and the one case when I can genuinely showing my distaste against something she would probably swoon about, she's knowhere to be seen.

Typical, women

*I don't regard this post, the OP, nor any of the individuals concerned as sexist, it's just in poor taste

Am I? I don't think of you as sexist - I've just had some issues with a couple of things you've said in the past. Call it FNRttC favouritism, but I'm inclined to cut Teef a bit of slack with this kind of thread as he's demonstrably unsleazy, and the thread deliberately played with the title to present something that's much less titillating than it implies. Except for the Planet X stuff, of course, which is sheer filth. The arse shot is a bit cheeky (tish-boom!) but the thread as a whole is pretty harmless stuff, I think.

Calm down dear.........

Just me?

What about the people who got their knickers in a twist about the thread and are now strangely silent (post-stir)?

Or is their opinion valid?

....and by that assumption, my opinion not valid, and not worth any credence?

I am chilled, and as calm as you like.

I am a heterosexual male.

I like ladies.

I know a few ladies on here , and have met 2 of them personally :becool:.

I have never made any suggestive comments to them, or had any inclination toward 'trying it on'. They are 'friends' and fellow (lady) cyclists and are afforded due respect - not just by me, but other men out on the rides.

I just think (some) people get too offended vicariously (to curry favour with others?) and are not being true to themselves.

Oh, BTW, the 'positive attention' comment (if you re-read the post) was directed at the vicarious disapprover's motive for cliqular (is that a word?) approval.

It had NOTHING to do with the ladies in the OP.

If you read it that way, then I am sorry, but it was not how I meant it.

I am also inclined to let this one pass too. I know Martin, he has his moments but he is generally a gent. The bit about him being strange -ok I concur.

I do think there are some important point that you make chap about the ethics and the voyeuristic nature and it's good to point these things out and encourage genuine thought.

However, not worth getting in a flap about

I sometimes wonder if I was born 40 years too late. We used to celebrate such voyeurism.

Although, to be honest, if repression means less music by Andy Williams, it's not all bad.

Nah norm, not repression..very far from it - mutual respect...now that's what it's about!

I should have made it clear that the terms "repression" and "voyeurism" should have been dripping with irony, ttc.

I see nothing wrong with it, I encourage it. The photos were an everyday activity with the thread title as an excellent hook, the women were both fit and very dirty but how many would have anticipated those images?

Although I think 'teefy should be made to go back to grab the skyline picture he forgot.

I think you posting is a load of tosh 'chap' and, what is more, you display your own ignorance by climbing in behind a smiley whilst trying to be sanctimonious and yet;

It is natrual we'll find women attractive, especially when they are fit (an increasingly rare phenomena due to our shoddy diet, and lack of excercise, and immature and facile materialistic behaviours.)

You have got a bloody cheek generalising like that. You may get off on that sort of description - you're forgetting that these 'women you find attractive' might not actually be using the qualities that others of us ie: me finds attractive...the ability to talk, engage and reason et al.

Stop criticising and get on with posting your original, influential thread-starting missives that can be admired by all and sundry. I'll probably look, if I can be bothered, and if I don't like the tone of what you are on about I'll either flag it (I never have yet) or ignore it.
I move on - I don't wait about for a pat on the back or some other form of adulation but it is policeman like attitudes like yours that are so depressing.
And, even though Comedy Pilot is a 'fly by night' he'll be on my team a long time before you're allowed near, what with your 'cybersmelly' pipe an' all! (It's that smiley again - is that ok?)

If I could I'd rate that post highly.

Regardless, the generalisation you refer to is an opinion, should you wish to challenge it, fair enough - and point noted (we must agree on a diversity of opinion.)

The initial post: once again my opinion is that it was a bit pervish. They were (in general) rather hot totty, but the fact remains that photos of them were taken, without their permission, under the guise of perhaps a commentator (with somebody to support) when they were in fact just a bunch of jollies to be printed and pritt-sticked into a fiddle bank. Nice pictures, would have loved to have been there, although I would have probably caught an eyeful, smiled to myself and saved the thought for those lonely cold nights at sea

I certainly would not have posted them on a public forum online for a mass-debate

P.S. To TheClaud: 'curse' you woman! Whatever happened to solidarity with the sisters, etc. Fair enough I'm not a woman, but seriously... I shall content myself with the fact that Germaine Greer would have been proud

Nowt wrong with the pictures, in fact I may well have cropped closer to really emphasise the grittiness of the race, 'teef, probably didn't have the lens for that. I think what you see Chap and to some extent Danny, says more about you or more about the influences of an ultra-overprotective national mentality, voyeurs in every cupboard, fear.

I looked at those pictures and admired the athletes and looked at the mud and knew instantly how hard that race must have been, beyond me certainly. As for cheap thrills, it's fairly tame compared to what is freely available on the internet and sorry, all the wrong shape for me, not a pick on any of them.
