Fitting clip-on aero bars.

About to fit some clip-on aero bars, and wondering if people do anything to protect their handlebars from damage by the clamps?
The bars I'm fitting have metal clamps, with 'toothed' metal shims to suit various bar diameters, and just concerned they will damage the finish (black) on the handlebars.
Do people put tape underneath to protect them?

I put insulating tape on my bars before aero bars go on; I'd suggest you do likewise.

Thanks - Thats what I was thinking - just wondering if it caused any issue with slippage - don't want the bars rotating at speed ;-)

As long as they're tight enough you'll be fine.
