Because you cannot exert any backwards pressure on the pedals without risking that the top run of chain become slack. Its not really a fixed wheel. I'd be scared to ride it to be honest for fear of it throwing the chain.

Its not even a Singlespeed have a good look there is two cogs he is running 18t and a 11t
