"Passing Judgement"?

Please point me to the part of my original post that led you to believe I was because I've re-read it several times I can't find it?

My OP was just a question, that's all.

Fair enough, I took 'I await enlightenment' to be a snarky comment, I apologise if that's not the case

I'd still recommend trying one though!

I like having the ability to control my speed without touching the brakes, I particularly like this in wet weather. I miss it considerably when riding one of my other bikes.

Cool doesn't bother me (Ive never been good at that ;)); its the the feeling of being connected directly to the wheel and that little bit extra up hills I have to do in the flatlands Peterborough I perceive as good training. I switched to fix when my ss freewhweel fell apart in Feb (or March) and I though I'd hate it and want to switch back but never have.

You can reverse!

This thread has got me browsing fixies, but they all seem very expensive considering a certain lacking in parts, or just BSO. Plus it's hard to seperate (in the five minutes I've been looking) the fixies from the SS.

Good to see you stuck with it, for me I would add there is something refreshingly simple about just keeping pedalling and once you are up to speed it is so simple to keep there. A Strava KOM is also smugly satisfying whilst riding fixed.

I would love a fixie, I don't think my legs will take carrot jeans :girl:

On a serious note I am really thinking about converting, sick to death of gear problems and the worry and cost of maintaining them, only downside is I have 2 miles of incline on the way home.
