Fixing up my brother's bike

bigfella: what is the width and diameter of the spindle on the front wheel as the forks are for a thin (8mm i think) spindle and are quite widely spaced, so much so that I used a cheap kids bmx spindle and a bunch of nuts and washers to space that one out to fit.

I will measure it tonight. I paid £25 to have both wheels trued, spokes replaced and the bearings changed so does £35 sound fair?

They are 700's, black rims and silver spokes.

Diameter of the spindle is 8.6mm give or take.

The width is 110mm.
