Yes, I think that we might be in luck!

I have had a very minor sore throat for over a week but it hasn't developed into anything so I should be okay for a relatively easy route like this one.

@Pennine-Paul - are you being held captives by the Goths in Morecambe? If not, come on down!

I am not sure why forum rides are so much less popular than they used to be? 6-8 riders was typical 10-20 years ago and sometimes more than that.

My train should get into Garforth station (NB NOT EAST GARFORTH!!) at 09:06 so meet at the exit by the car park around 09:10 and leave ASAP after that.

Just one thing... I have been unlucky on local trains recently so there could be delays! I was stuck yesterday for 43 minutes 1 km from Todmorden on my way home from my walking holiday. I will check that my 2 trains are running on time at about 07:15 on Saturday and post an update below.

If it's largely fine I'll be on the Roubaix again, but that reminds me I want to pivot the bars up a bit, or possibly fit this shorter stem I have if I get time. I was struggling a bit with lower back pain towards the end of the last one. Felt a bit stretched out

It actually feels more sore today, but I still don't feel particularly ill.

I have not been on the bike for about 10 days because I have been on holiday, but walking over the Long Mynd didn't cause any problems so I should be okay.

I had better do an easy little ride this afternoon to check! As long as that goes okay and nothing bad develops overnight I will ride tomorrow even if I am not my usual highly athletic self ().

The weather forecast has improved even more. It should be a pleasant day out

I will get up before 07:00 and check how I feel. If I can manage the ride, I will check that my 2 trains are on time. Expect a report about 07:15!

Aaargh!!!

Sorry guys - I am going to have to pull out of tomorrow's ride...

I didn't feel up to doing even 30 gentle minutes on the turbo this evening.

I just had to go to Aldi and walked the 2 km round trip at a moderately brisk pace. Even that easy effort made me feel distinctly sick. Whatever I caught on holiday is now starting to get a grip. The friend that I went with has got it too. It wouldn't be sensible to try to do 5-6 hours of cycling and 2.5 hours on trains.

Tomorrow looks like a good day for the ride. Don't feel that you have to wait for me to get better. I suggest doing this one without me?

If we get another nice Saturday after I recover, I'll organise a shorter but hillier ride from Hebden Bridge with a visit to Craggies cafe on the way back.
