In case anybody quite fancies the ride, but thinks that they might be too slow for us... We ride at just a steady, chatty pace. I would guess that we will take around 6 hours - 5-ish hours of riding and around an hour of stops. If that sounds okay, sign up below.

Obviously, there will be other riders who would find this pace ridiculously easy. Why not think of it as a nice long(ish) zone 1/2 recovery ride after your more serious training rides earlier that week?

I missed this for some reason.
I can’t make the dat as it’s my wife’s birthday and anyways, I’ve not ridden outside for a wee while so a bit of a stretch for my first one back in the real world!

A shame but hope you all enjoy it. It’s a good route.

30+ C was going to be way too hot for a 100 km bike ride (even over flat terrain) so I made the necessary arrangements to get the temperature down to a much more pleasant low-20s next Saturday. It is now safe for those put off by the hellish heat to join us...

So, no serious hills, no rain, no searing heat, no excessive speed, no excuses... SIGN UP BELOW!!

It's quite a while since I went on a Forum Ride. I'm looking forward to Saturday.
So much so I have even cleaned the bike.😄

I did consider getting someone in to 'detail' it. But I thought that might be a bit too much.

I haven't done many either the past couple of years!

It looks like we are not the only ones, but the others are either way too busy to join us, or have given up checking this forum.

Oh, your post changed while I was typing this - that's the first time that I have seen that happen!

I think Bill will be riding his singlespeed bike. I may adjust the endstops on my bike to turn it back into a singlespeed for the day. I only need one gear for this route and the bar-end shift is easily knocked out of position.

I have just checked the return train times. There are 3 an hour now as opposed to 1 on previous editions of the ride. I missed a train by a couple of minutes once and therefore had a 58 minute wait. That won't happen this time unless trains get cancelled. (Which does happen!)

Is the GPX corrupted? It wouldn't load into Garmin Connect, giving an error. Loaded into cycle.travel and it looks a bit weird round Wetherby. It looks like the pale blue line follows the original route toward Tockwith (Garmin Connect screenshot below for comparison) but the actual route seems to do a figure 8 back through Wetherby toward waypoints 10 & 11 with a couple of u-turns. I assume cycle.travel has encountered the same issue as Garmin Connect but has attempted to reroute.

Route from 2023 ride. If this ride is the same I'll just use this route:
