Flat bar to drops

You'll may find it as economical to sell the Merida and get a drop bar bike. Why did you not get drops in the first place if you only recently got the bike?

No because the groupset is going on my carbon bike and vice versa

But the PX is £550 so assuming it's not on cycle to work, he could just sell the Merida. If it is c2w, he needs to check whether he can modify the bike in this way, as it's not technically his to modify

Brought the bike as a fitness bike . Done a couple of sportives 64 and 84 would like drops. Erudin do you have those gear shifters at the end of your drops ? Could I see a photo ? Thanks for the links.

Im actually thinking of going the other way and turning the synapse disc into a flat bar......looking at parts for it now

Any drop bar levers will operate those brakes, but they might or might not operate them particularly well. The main issue you will find in converting a hybrid to drop bars is the top tube length, as hybrids tend to have longer tob tubes for a given size than the equivalent sized drop bar bike.

I accomplished that,using an old rigid frame Schwinn's Impact,cantilever brakes,and drop bars with regular brake hoods. This won't work with all rigid frames,as some may have too much reach,wrong sort of brakes,etc, but this one had good geometry for this purpose, and is roughly equivalent to a Surly 26 inch Long Haul Trucker
