Cycling to work this morning along the cyclepath that run up the A38 and a little rabbit darts towards my front wheel .
I swerved to avoid it but hit the deck causing a nice bit or road rash and bruising to my knee , i had to take it steady on the way home as it has seized up
I knew it was only a matter of time before i hit the deck as every day they run out in front of my wheels , next time i think i will just the little blighter over and bring it home for the pot !

I hit a hare (or rather the hare hit me) last year, and the end result was the same as you swerving - me on the ground.

I'm wondering why you'd swerve for a rabbit? I don't think I'd do more than the smallest of swerves and braking, because the risk of causing yourself a huge crash is far higher than the risk of hitting the rabbit.

Hmm don't know what I'd do- think despite the best thing to do is go for the hit, the initial instinct would be to swerve. Reckon it's a potential off either way.

Have hit things in the car on whilst on the motorway before (a duvet !! and a random car part that fell off another vehicle). Both could have been dodgy but you have no choice but to plough into them and hope for the best).

Anyway, if indeed the best solution is to carry on straight and run into it, you could almost say when encountering a rabbit it's a case of... 'stew or die'.

Because not all of us are heartless and the initial reaction was to try and avoid rather than run over it which would probably have caused an off anyway., cyclepath is only about 3 foot wide as well with grass either side so its not like you could see it before it dived out either.
