Interesting....do you use many of the features ? ....do changes you make on the app go through to the hardware ?

I have used the app to modify the lighting options available. I don't need umpteen modes so I have selected only constant low & flashing low, pulse is completely deactivated. Initially I had left all the light modes available as I'd no intention of using it other than as a camera but when I occasionally pressed the power button for too short a time to turn it off, it would switch on one of the light modes. I then had to cycle through all nine modes before getting back to camera only and that was a real PITA.

I've saved and edited a few snippets of video too and never had any problems with the app doing that on either device. I've yet to test out the alarm mode though, I might do that soon just to see how good it is.

Is the camera firmware up to date? Mine is on FLY12 VER:1609060.

Can you borrow another smart device to see if you still have problems?

Well I logged a call with cycliq support - and thought this would be one of the first things they would check. But they had me forrmatting the card, editing the config file, and thenfully charging the battery and waiting for it to fully un charge. - Then send them some log files. I felt like I was beta testing and threw my toys out of the pram.

So I need an ipad, a google nexus then it might work ! - I might just pay someone to ride along filming me !

in all seriousness I am leaning towards getting another fly 12 - there doesn't seem much else battery wise...

It's common to find the problems with the Fly12 or Fly6 are down to a corrupt or wrongly formatted sd card. Are you using the one that came with it or another make and size?

(And it's a wee iPod I use, not an iPad. No way I'd carry something around that big.)

Its the original card. I had a bit of a game getting it to do anything - then I finally got it working, did a 2 hour ride - brilliant. Fully charged it ready for next time - came to use it some days later it had lost charge even without being switched on. The green light flashed away happily - although I didn't get the little chirps to confirm recording that I had set - got home from a 3 hour ride nothing recorded.
As you say it could be the card ........but then would the card explain the connection problems and the device not retaining settings from the app ?

Sounds like you've got a duffer. I'd take the replacement and see how that goes.

Well I got a refund - but Amazon are doing the fly12 for £169, as amazon are pretty good with returns I've ordered one from them. Any other camera that come close work out more expensive as the fly12 is ready to go (bracket and SD card included).

Hi @kingrollo,

Sorry that you’ve been having this much trouble with your Fly12. We’ve just created an account so we can reach you about this.

We realise that it’s a little too late to sort out the issue with the Fly12 giving you trouble – and we appreciate the troubleshooting help by @glasgowcyclist along the way.

Please let us know how the Fly12 you’ve ordered goes in your first ride. If there’s similar issues with the CycliqPlus app, we’ll figure it out.

Hi @the_mikey,

What’s happening with your Fly12? Is it not responding when you use the wifi button for example, or try to connect to the CycliqPlus app?

A reason for your Fly12 stopping recording is if Incident Protection Mode is activated – this occurs when the camera is more than 60 degrees from the vertical. This tells the Fly12 to lock the footage before, and 30 minutes afterwards – this is to ensure your footage isn’t overwritten, and that you have the footage of the incident when you check the microSD card. Three quick beeps would have also sounded to let you know.

In any case, our support team are very quick to get back to you about any queries you have.

I hate my Fly12, basically it works as long as you never need to push any button on it aside from the one needed to switch it on, configure it to not use the light, you just want it to record and hope that it doesn't encounter anything that it interprets as a reason to stop recording.

Wow I m impressed that you have taken the trouble to come on here to try and sort things out. I really want it to work out as it is a camera designed for cyclists - and the battery life - well nothing else comes close. Its due to arrive Friday but we are under 10 inches of snow in the west midlands - so when I actually get out on the bike ....who knows.

Ive got loads of questions though - I will compile this and post them here when I get chance - if thats ok ?

ok @Cycliq,

Heres my first batch of questions

1. If the camera is recording and you connect via the app you still get the option to start recording. It’s as though the app doesn’t display the current status of camera

2. When connecting to the app – if the camera has the light on – this goes off when the app is connected and comes back on when disconnected

3. What is the relationship between Bluetooth and WFI ?

4. How do I check and update the firmware ?

5.The app has a tab for saved videos – what goes in her ? – If I press incident protection mode should the saved video appear here ?

6. Can I set up strava overlays via a PC

7. Does strava need to be running on the phone at that has the app – I use a Garmin edge touring – then link account to strava on a desktop PC.

8. Does the alarm only work if the phone is in wfi range

Welcome to the forum, It's great to have your support and care here:okay:

1/ When i load a Strava Overlay to my iphone, the speed doesn't correspond anywhere near to the actual speed if it shows any at all. Could this be down to a bad WiFi connection?
2/ Do i need to have WiFi on to connect to Bluetooth?

I will try again when I get some time in the new year, but I do find it discouraging and I don't want to waste more time on it. I will give it another chance, perhaps I need to disable the protection mode.
