As Europeans we can take pride in the knowledge that Europe is home to the world leaders in cruise ship building, Fincantieri in Italy, Mayer Werft in Germany, Aker Finnyards in Finland, the STX yard in France etc.

Rule Britannia? They're having a laugh! Built in Italy, owned by Americans, manned by the league of nations. Is the thing even registered in Britain? I thought P&O had gone down the flag of convenience route, some of their ships are registered in Bermuda.

That is my thought. Rather a cheek playing the British card given the lack of British input to the thing.

Do people who go on cruises want a British ship?

Seems like a Holiday Inn with two (fake) funnels on the top. £200 extra if you want a window.

Makes one wonder what would happen if some sort of crime or such would happen on ship like that, as country of registry would have jurisdiction, if I am not mistaken. I know in some American Ports, there is a little office of the Bahamian Police, but it doesn't look to have a lot of manpower there.

I rather hope that the British captain would muster a firing squad (suitably fortified by double rations of rum) and deal with the miscreant on the quarterdeck.
