Flying with Trangia?

I remember reading a while ago that airlines did not allow flying with (even empty) camping stove fuel containers. A Trangia on the other hand is a fuel container by itself... anybody had problems taking your Trangia with you on a plane?

The problem is the smell of fuel can be picked up by the sensors.

The solution with a Trangia is to find a circular tupperware container that fits inside the kettle. (Take the lid in your pocket to the local supermarket to try them out). The burner then goes inside that.

This has the added advantage of stopping the burner rattling and your food tasting of meths. (I have never figured out why Trangia don't supply the tupperware containers as standard)

The solution with the fuel bottle is to ensure that it is empty and clean before you fly.

you shouldn't have any bother if you do the above. I have never had any bother flying with clean Trangia kit.
The fuel you need in the UK is available at Pharmacists and camping shops and is called Methylated spirits, it comes in a lurid purple colour in the UK.
