I like flogging a dead horse and mortification of the flesh is so very Roman Catholic.

Perhaps I can pedal my way to paradise, which is a mountainside in mid Wales near Llanidloes.

But, seriously, there is a lot of pleasure, endorphins maybe, to be obtained from 'sustainable discomfort' on a bike. and it helps if you are chasing a mate from work who is 20 years younger than you for the whole ride (until he retires hurt anyway - hope you knee gets well soon Matt)

I don't know about the use of the word 'team', but I've ridden a number of AudaxUK events (200km and above) with a group of mates. They weren't fellow club members as I don't belong to a club. There's nothing to stop folk riding in a group. Personally I prefer it.
