Fonda 'smells a rat' over iconic chopper sale.

The chopper allegedly ridden in the Easy Rider film is being sold at auction and expected to fetch $1.3 m. However Fonda smells a rat and thinks it may not be genuine. Another enthusiast claims he has the original bike.

There were four bikes in total used for filming. Two of them were the Captain America chopper. Although one of these was destroyed in the final scene, it was rebuilt and sold in 2014.

That bike has been copied so many times over the years. I have seen at least three at various bike rallies. The original frame and engine number would be the only proof I guess.

They can be precarious but once used to the rake and the fact it has the turning circle of an ocean liner they are fine.

The fork length was pretty extreme and would be fine in a straight line, it's corners that would give you the real problems.

Fast acceleration can be interesting as there is very little weight at the front. You learn very quickly not to over cook it.
