At one place I worked we were forever having self supplied buffets. Everyone signed up for an item on a list for the communal buffet and brought it in that day. So a friend and I decided whoever got the list first would tick off cheese. As we both liked Blue Stilton that was what we bought. As nobody else liked it we ate it between the two of us. Strangely none of our colleagues twigged to this cunning ploy.

There's a cheese shop in Stockbridge, Edinburgh that I can't bear to walk past on a hot summer's day. In fact I'm getting the boke just thinking about the honking place! xx(

Forget whether you like it or not, I do; but, how did you go 44 years without hearing about it, have you been a hermit living in a small cave somewhere?

He didn't say he hadn't heard of it, just hadn't tried it. I've never tried oysters, but I've heard about them.

I love cheese, but I'm not a great fan of any blues. I'll have a little, in a selection, but don't like too much.

In Sardina a few years ago I was prevailed upon to try some Casu marzu. Once I got over how it was made, it was actually rather splendid. Not for the faint hearted though.

I've been known to stand and stare wistfully at the window of Paxton and Whitfied in Jermyn Street, drooling at the thought of their Stilton, which is the best I have ever had. A good Stilton and a nice glass of port is one of life's pleasures.

Also, whoever thought of putting bits of fruit or what not in to cheese should be shot. Stilton and cranberries??? Its wrong.

Comte is also very nice.

Is that similar to the grub cheese I tried in Corsica? Much tastier than Stilton any day!

Although I didn't know whether to chew it very thoroughly or not at all and I was grateful for the eau de vie chaser....
