@derrick I'm not sure that gaining a few pounds will give you more power tbh, unless it's an increase in muscle size. The more you weigh, the more power you need to move that weight. Some people spends a fortune trying to shave a few grams off their bikes, when they could loose a few pounds for free and get the same result.

I'm not a good advert for it at the moment due to an overactive sweet tooth but I tend to eat when I'm hungry. If my belly's not rumbling before I leave the house for a ride in the morning, then it doesn't get fed. Sometimes I have to stop to get breakfast en route but I'm just as likely to last until lunchtime. As others have said, it's about eating the correct amounts of the correct foods.

I think it also depends on your work.

Due to the hours i do i eat at stupid times and although i try to stay on the side of whats best, it is difficult.

Although pigging out on a friday down the Happy Locust chinese doesn't help either.
