Here's another lad brought up with dripping on bread plus more salt than you would get in Bonneville

Or the seafood delicacies offered by 'the crab man' from his (unrefrigerated) wicker basket in the pub of a Saturday evening. Cockles, mussels, winkles, or the rubbery delight of room temperature 'crab' sticks...

We used to call him 'the cockle man'. I saw one, for the first time in years, in Nottingham city centre last Saturday night!

I still do rabbit from time to time and liver. MrsR has a penchant for pickled tripe from the 'Polish' aisle in the local supermarket:ohmy:

Love a bit of Liver & Bacon but my family have no tastebuds either. One food I remember from my youth was stuffed, braised hearts which my mum did again on a recent visit and they were as lovely as I remember them

I didn't have bread and dripping, that treat was reserved for my dad and I never got a look in.

I sometimes get a nostalgic urge for a Vesta Beef Curry.

Gadz, wish I hadn't read this xx(.
It's curry night and Mr M has just ordered.
My contribution is beetroot sandwiches, lemon curd sandwiches, liver, my mother's take on spaghetti bolognaise (which was, ahem, not very good), salmon paste, pork luncheon meat and beef burgers.

My mother used to make something she called "bacon and egg pie" it was a scone dough base, rolled out like a thick pizza, with strips of bacon laid across, then several eggs broken straight onto the base. Oven bake, then eat it hot or cold as picnic food. Then came the cordon bleu movement, and it was replace by quiche lorraine. My mother entirely forgot this dish, denied ever making it.

While being quite nostalgic, I've never attempted it myself, because it was bacon and eggs on scone. OK, but never great.

I remember my mum cooking tripe & onions for my dad a few times, us kids wouldn't touch it! We used to eat heart occasionally.
I still eat liver now and then but it's ages since I had kidneys. May have to get some.

First food factory I ever visited was the Findus Crispy Pancake site in Humberstone Road Grimsby. The site has long gone ... as for the Crispy Pancakes .... no idea.
Is that the place that was at the end of the road, with a big playing field to one side?
