Quite often shop own brand substitutes are as good or even better than brand name food products.

But there are some you can never skimp on because even the best alternatives don't come close.

So start a list here.

1. Jacob's Cream Crackers.

I suspect the rest of this topic will be people arguing and that those who prefer brands are snobs or those that prefer the alternatives are cheapskates.

Probably a dose of ...well of course I don't buy into the marketing like you sheep...type comments

I generally don't care about brands.

However...
Some supermarket Butters taste rancid even when freshly bought. Their lurpak knock-offs are generally v good though.

Chocolate eclairs - i prefer cheap supermarket ones to posh boulangerie options

Homemade focaccia is miles better than anything from a store

It might be worth getting the mods to implement a non optional baked beans of choice notification under every member’s profile.

That way we can easily see what type every one likes speeding up the process of ignoring members. For example, if you prefer Branston baked beans then you have bordering on criminal taste and your opinions on all matters should be ignored.

Own-grown and freshly harvested toms, beetroot, cuc and asparagus are infinitely better than anything from a shop.

Branston beans, no other, literally, come near them for me personally.
Co op tea bags for some reason, theyre not expensive but prefer those to almost all others.
Always buy proper butter but will always buy Lurpak spreadable in case of sandwiches/spreading convenience.. dont like most other spreads.

Walker's or McCoy's crisps are far better than supermarket own brands.

And Fiddler's Lancashire Crisps are better than those two.
