I just get a sandwich and a snack from the nearest shop and eat it in the hotel.

You could be as adventerous as you want and get a full curry or chinese etc and eat it in your hotel room.

They don't care.

Just stay away from room service / minibars

Living off snacks and takeaways is fine if it's just occasional, but if it's a regular occurrence it'll be hell, surely?

It's great - but it makes you fat.

I enjoy a takeaway, but feel awful if I have it 2 days in a row, lacking energy etc. It's not a good fuel.

This whole issue will be effecting me from next week. I'll be living in a hotel near the company office and having eaten in there before am not looking forward to it. Having done a course there for a few days it also gets very repetitive. Unfortunately I don't think there is much alternatives within walking distance to go and eat, unless you include asda.
Hotel food and desk job. I'll have to be careful or I'll be piling weight on. Bah.

I spent 8 months living in a hotel in Marlow during the week. After 6 months I had eaten in nearly every restaurant in the town twice and it was getting boring. Towards the end I went to the local Asda on Monday and bought bulk crisps, bread, cup-a-soups, fruit, cake and fruit juice and ate that during the week. It helped that the breakfast was a huge buffet selection which I never managed to try everything from.

Take bike with you, park it in hotel (ask them to keep it in left luggage), increases range for finding decent eateries and gives you your exercise option without their stinky gym.

I'm still struggling to find anywhere healthy to eat on an evening.

Hotel / pub / restaurant chain food is ok now and then, but every night it gets boring and unhealthy

Sadly I don't think there's an answer Spen.

When I stay in hotels it is only for short, work-related things.

You can buy healthy stuff that doesn't need cooking - especially if you can find a Deli or decent sandwich place that makes fresh stuff with proper ingredients.

And buy plenty of fruit - the ultimate healthy, cheap, tasty snack.

+1. I'd had enough of Jurys Inn food after 3 days of staying there when on a course. Not looking forward to months of it.

I'll have to change my username to Alan Partridge

Only way I could see of getting a bike as I'll be flying to and fro at weekends would be to buy another and leave it there whilst keeping the rest at home.
That would be a terrible thing to have to do wouldn't it?

I tend to mix it up. One night a steak sandwich plus side plate of green veg, one night curry, one night smoked fish selection from asda with mixed salad and brown bread roll (from supermarket). Also mix breakfasts, full breakfast most days but porridge in the office now and then.

I also take my bike in the car quite often, and they let me keep it in the room which is good.

I seem to be spending a lot of time working away from home @ present & staying in hotels like Hiltons, Holiday inns etc. Buffet breakfast is included.

I am sick of hotel foods or restaurants on a night. There are only so many curries you can eat or pizzas etc.

So, any suggestions of what to do for lunch and more importantly evening meals?

There are probably members here from all the places you've been heading out to; so why not ask for recommendations of places serving 'normal' grub?
Restaurant doesn't need to equal pizza or curry, you could also do as others have suggested noodles - or perhaps pasta? If you're looking for something a bit healthier, most places will have a veggie restuarant somewhere, and while that's not everyone's cup of tea you're likely to get better fresh stuff. Soups etc for lunch as well perhaps?

I was going to suggest just that, in fact I'm sure it's been done before. You may even be able to arrange a local CC meet-up and have some company one evening. Do you have transport Spen666 or are you confined to an area within walking distance of your hotel? If you're in Hull tonight I might be able to give you some suggestions.
