I have just been watching one of those fly on the wall police programmes on TV. Middle of the night there is a cyclist in dark clothing and with no lights. Then he went straight through a red light, refused to stop when called on to do so by the police and hopped up onto the pavement. To top it all he was under the influence of drink. Initially the police were going to give him a rollocking and send him on his way until he refused to stop. Then things escalated to a fixed penalty ticket. However the silly s*d couldn't keep his mouth shut and he was very rude and aggressive towards the police, so they reported him for summons and a visit to to the local beak. He ended up with a fine of £750 plus a couple of hundred pounds in costs.

I guess you can't blame the police in this instance.

Sounds like he got what he deserved.

There are total plonkers in every field of life. The only sad thing is there are people who, if he was hit by a car, defend his riding "style" however if the situations were reversed with a drunk driver etc they would call for a hanging.

The other sad thing is that they find people to breed with.

I watched that too and was very pleased to see he was made an example of! Its the likes of him that give cyclists a bad name..... shame on him!

There are plenty of morons around. Some of them ride bikes.

Not a cyclist, just a yob on a bike. Two completely different things in my opinion.

if you take that view idiots who drive cars like morons aren't drivers?

Surely everyone who is on a bike is a cyclist? They might not be cycling enthusiasts or give a toss about responsible cycling but they're still cyclists just by virtue they're on a bike. We may not like it, but sadly it's a fact.
