Maybe banging on the rear screen of the Passat and then laying down in the road would have had a better effect.

Oooh and think of the insurance claim... Nice idea NT.

I wasn't really thinking about the insurance claim, that would impact on other drivers in increased premiums. Was thinking more about the shock factor to the driver. She would have been exclaiming 'God' for a whole different reason.

I think the key to this sort of behaviour today, centres around 'loss of face'
People are 'programmed' to 'save face' before thinking about the needs of others.
She was embarrassed at her inconsiderate driving but rather than apologise to you (which would have been the most appropriate action ) she took an agressive stance and tried to bluff her way out of her weaker position in order to save face.

As I think Richard Ballantine once wrote, if a car pulls out from a side road suddenly in front of you, it would be very bad indeed to brake hard, but still hit the side gently, then roll across the bonnet and off the other side, and lie on the floor complaining of a pain in the neck...

That would be good, but it's hard enough getting things sorted when you've been run into at speed.....when it's clearly the third party's fault........
