I believe that the Luftwaffe were, by and large, honourable men.
Godwin's Law doesn't apply. As you were.....carry on....

Luftwaffe is a generic German term for an air force. It was also the official name for the Nazi air force founded in 1935.

Dana-Thomas House, by Frank Lloyd Wright, about 60 miles south of me. I actually live fairly close to a few Frank Lloyd Wright houses . About 150 miles or so, anyways.

Somebody elses' picture though.
Also, in the town where I went to university, there were some Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome homes, as he taught there for a time.

Florida Southern College is FLWpolis, well worth a visit - that and seeing a space shuttle take-off were the highlights of my trip there.

The office room in the V&A is cool too, back when artichokes designed everything rather than as little as possible and with zero responsibility.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
High and Over was built in the early part of the 20th century and it's painted white... that's about it.
A building should sit within the landscape and make the place better than it was before, it isn't just dropped there like an empty shoe-box on a rug.
That original photo was of the house just after development, so two things you don't get are the (already planned) houses around it and the lie of the land. Here's a link to a contemporary birds-eye view:

The two white houses in the front are smaller Sun Houses, built a little later than the main house snaking up the very steep hill towards it. About the same time the Metropolitan Railway company were starting to build down from the top of the hill - unfortunately they were interrupted by the war.

You'll have to believe me when I say that in context it's an extraordinary and very unexpected miracle. You have an 18th century coaching town along the valley, several estates of good quality Metroland houses at the top, and an infill of unimaginative 1950s and 196s nonsense.

The price?
I think there are several developers who'd happily pay £3m for 2 acres of prime Buckinghamshire land without a house on it.

so............I'm on a tour of your wildly expensive Parliament building, holding forth about the detailing, which is kind of rubbish and wilful at the same time, and the person standing next to me says '....er, Simon....I drew that'.

Whoops!

(Oh, and I'd swap anything designed by Charles Holden for just one Leslie Green http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Green - had he lived this city would have been that much more beautiful)

Never knew about the Voysey terrace!... is it still complete?
One house is currently for sale, another one has just been sold

Travelling into different counties;
How about these 2 beautiful buildings??

We've been in the Midland Hotel, for 'high tea', & sadly I remember it in its 1970s 'bingo' phase, & (even sadder) its utter dereliction before rescue by Urban Splash

As for Burgh Island, I've never had the chance
