Does that hold true for MPs and Philip Green ?
MPs paid from public purse which I said at the beginning is our business. I do not think anyone is paying Philip green millions, it comes from the companies he abd his wife own. What he has done is disgusting but nothing to do with singers or footballers being paid huge sums in salary.

Has it come to café for a holiday?
Reminds me of a story, i shared, the last time SC&P came on holiday....

S C and P were prattling away venting their woes...."okay, i give in, what's the problem?" said the bored man Chris.
"A big Paul Weller lookalike has taken our ball and run away...we don't know what to do now" they wailed in unison (though not all are union members)
The Bored man took pity and decided to help...."Stay there a minute, I know of a place of jolly japes and shenanigans. Hoy!!! Chris!!" he beckoned the bigman across the road. "Can you direct these lost souls to the Cafe?"
Being ever the gentlemen, Sir Chris showed them the way.
Nervously S C and P approached the door and opened it.
Inside were Tom O'Foolery, the Irish funster and The Reverand I M Jolly, the overseer of his Cafe flock.
"Begorra!" exclaimed the Rev, "what have we here?"
Tom looked up, "Guys fer Fawkes sake, don't stand there, come awa in"
Full of apprehension, they shuffled in. What was this place and why is there cake everywhere?
Suddenly a door opened, they jumped back! From the room emerged Amanda Panda, looking worse for wear and slightly unsteady on her feet "Well that's the last invitation i post until i improve my spelling...it's full of drunks in there, and i'm the only bear!"
Rev beckoned S C and P to stay and tell him what was so troubling them.
Rev sat back and mused..."i'm going to tell you the story of the little Scots boy that could"
"There once was a poor boy who loved cheese, but he couldn't afford to buy it, He decided to make his own and built his equipment from junk and old white goods. He became so good that he was invited to France to show how good he was. The French tho' were not impressed with his non standard machinery and wouldn't let him play.
Undeterred he got out his multi-tool and duct tape and modified to appease the frogs. Grudgingly they agreed to his participation...which they later regretted!
The little Scots boy, against all odds, swept all before him...his cheese was the best by far!
And from that day on he was known as Graeme Au Brie, the Master cheesemaker"
Rev stroked his cat, who had just come in for a portrait shoot, and smiled "i Hope you have learned something today, the cheesy Scotsman always knows best"
After shaking hands, a revitalised S C and P made their way back out into the big wide world committed to spreading their new found joy, love and happiness to one and all.....

THE END

Footballers earn massive amounts for their clubs in TV fees and merchandising alone.

As for the England players, they are paid by the clubs they play for, not the FA. In fact the appearance money they receive is pooled and donated to charity.
The fact still remain that Taylor Swift is paid an enormous wage because she does her job well and the England Footballers are paid an enormous wage because they are rubbish. This is why people moan, which was the point of your starting this thread (I think).

No, they are paid enormous wages by THEIR CLUBS because of the return they bring. England has nothing to do with it. People moan because they resent working class lads earning lots of money through their talents instead of knowing their places and getting a job in Tescos or a local factory.

Oh, sorry. I thought footballers got paid for playing football...

EDIT: And I am not moaning at working class people doing well because I am working class and so are all of my mates, including those that have done well for themselves.

People get paid what they are worth to the people paying them, nobody else.

It is entirely irrelevant what someone chooses to pay another person unless it is from the public purse or below minimum wage.
Agree. After all, she was just a girl who wanted to sing. She was probably in the right place at the right time, but must have been good at singing to have been noticed in the first place. The fact that she was marketed and managed properly was not her fault, and very few people of a similar age would have passed that up.

She is effectively paid based on how popular she is and how many people buy her music. If you think she is rubbish then don't mock her, mock the people who have made her what she is, and moreover the people who buy her music or merchandise, or go to her concerts.

Re players playing for England. They get paid a notional fee for each match they start or are on the bench. They also have the incentive of a hefty bonus if they actually win eg the World Cup (not much has been paid on the latter account for decades). AFAIK all the players donate any monies they earn to charity.

Re what they are paid for. Especially at the higher levels players are simply assets whose value is driven by on-pitch performance. As a general rule they get paid roughly proportionally to whatever the club thinks is required to gain/retain their services, how much they will contribute to winning the all important competitions and the attendant prize monies, whatever sponsorship deals that are often won on the merit of the individual players in any squad and whatever the club can sell (eg shirts) based on a player's popularity.

My friend Taylor is on a commission only type job, if no ones buys her stuff or goes to her gigs then she gets dropped by the record company, if a footballer is shite in a game they still get paid.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

If you're pulling down as much as Swift or a premiership footballer and you're being properly advised, then frankly not getting paid doesn't matter. The average person in this country will earn a bit over £1m during their entire working lifetime. That's two days' income for Swift.

I don't care about any of it really, my only point was the last time I saw Taylor Swift live she was pretty good (despite my reservations and as far as pop music goes), the last time I saw footballers play was England/Scotland a couple of weeks back, they were all awful, I don't know if they get paid for that but I wouldn't have given them minimum wage for their pisspoor effort.

Is it your fault that this thread is here then?

I Hope you're pleased with yourself, young man.
