That is a very fast descent down which the rider must be extremely careful. Years ago, I discovered that there is at least one dip in which cars or motorbikes coming up the hill can disappear. I had scanned the road ahead and thought that it was clear so I released the brakes and was soon doing 50 mph, but was suddenly confronted by a car coming at me. I just managed to squeeze into a small gap between the vehicle and the verge!
Another frequent hazard is sheep wandering or running across the road in front of you. I read of one fatality and one paralysis resulting from cyclists hitting sheep on that descent.
There are similar hazards on the descent of Waddington Fell towards Newton, plus a deceptive RH bend with iffy camber, the bend tightening as you get into it. I failed to stay on the road on that bend the first time that I did it, but managed to stay on my bike in an impromptu 'wall of death' manoeuvre round the sloping grass verge.
Great cycling country, but keep your wits about you!
