Bejam is an acronym for Brian, Eric, John, And Millie; the first names of the original company directors.
My sis. is a latter-day Arch...keeping the till rolls churning through the Iceland machinery.
A local merchants at one time...Bejams / Victor Value etc is a bit reminiscent of the Green Shield stamps building in Edgware. "Historical shopping venues."
Cycling's basket cases are being hampered by the weather.:santa:

12 years in Bejam. Positively James Bond-esque..

I think the most exciting things that happened were the day a delivery driver rolled a pallet on a pallet truck onto the tail lift, forgetting that the tail lift was down at the time, and the time an octagenarian shoplifter tried to run me over making a getaway in his mobility scooter....

Otherwise, it was mostly dire, but it was there that I learned a) the ethic of working until the job was done and all mucking in together (thanks to the manager and supervisor when I started there), and b) how to count change backwards properly to avoid mistakes (IE, it comes to £6.51, you give me a tenner and I count back the £3.49 thus "6.53, 6.55, 6.70, 6.80, 7, 8, 9, 10". Nowadays, they just dump the lot in your hand.)

As a company we use F&M to send some very overpriced hampers to some of our clients at Christmas so I hope its not one of ours! Going by past experience it's more likely to be F&M's mistake than Parcelforce. The're not as efficient as you would expect. I suspect they're not really geared up to internet sales so it all comes a little unstuck at Christmas. Then again they shouldn't send out the brochures if they can't deliver the goods.

Bejam's had a 15p coin? ;)

Yes, they came in bags of £3.00 worth...

See, I can count it, I just can't type it...

I must admit I've always found F&M great to deal with.

And they do have the most fabulous smoked salmon...

We were once given a posh hamper as a gift.

Some of the items contained within were utterly scrumptious but,

One of the items that was less appetising was the large tub/jar of Gentlemens Relish!

I couldn't bring myself to try it as every time I looked at it all I could think about was which poor soul had to milk the Gentlman to relieve him of his relish?

Another thought has just crossed my mind. You don't think they have battery relish farms do you?, full of undernourished men who've never seen daylight being milked relentlessly!!?

Ah...Gentleman's Relish. Like Radio 4 and the Aga, an unmistakeable hallmark of the British Upper Middle Classes.
