I know I'm probably in the minority, but I never really got bonj. In all my years on CC (pauses to puff on pipe and stare wistfully into distance) I've never been into P&L, CA&D or whatever it's called now, so maybe I missed the best of him. I did look at his blog after he flounced, but by Dawkins it was dull.
He started his own forum, didn't he? It died an early death.

Chuffy and Baggy are two I haven't seen round either. Or the BNP bloke, Stonecastle.

My attitude to the forum has changed considerably in the *mumble* years that I've been here. These days, I'm much less likely to get wound up and, like SteC above, tend to avoid the more contentious subjects.

Not because I don't have an opinion, nor because I'm afraid to express it, it's just because I don't believe there's a value in my always saying what I think. Not on a forum anyway, where I feel the potential negative results frequently outweigh the positives.

ignoring certain forum sections, ignorance is bliss ^_^

I've got a garmin thing belonging to Marin York that he very kindly loaned me. I need to return it but I've lost his address. I wish he'd come back.
He said send it to me.

...or pm him, he'll answer, he just doesn't post any more.

I'm back!!! :bravo:

Buggi took a lot of heat from the Trolls on here which was uncalled for so I think maybe she decided to give CC a rest for the time being. Maybe I am wrong but she was given a very hard time which is a pity as she was ok.
.

pretty much yea. i kinda decided i was getting too wound up for my own good, the point had long been lost and decided to take a break for a while. But Smokey sent me a pm the other day so it reminded me to come say hi.

and that..

on the upside, being away has bought some positives.
  • I went to Boston (USA), won an award for the cyclesafety vehicle initiative I'd been doing at work AND, while i was there, went whale watching and saw a humpback whale do a full breach (my bucket list wiped out in an instant), the trip paid for by my company and even managed to get a free upgrade to business class both ways (and yes, i took full advantage of the free bar)
  • have discovered by some complete fluke that i am brilliant at painting... having never picked up a paint brush before (i will open a new thread for that one). (This actually is not a positive though because i now hate my job, want to leave and become a broke artist)

MissTillyFlop. I always enjoyed her alarmingly frank posts. She came to a Christmas CC party a few years ago and she was delightful.

I had a great ****-up in Amsterdam with Mangaman.

Really nice guy - last I heard he got married, so maybe found better stuff to do with his time!

That's good to hear, he's a poster I miss and someone I had a few disagreements with but he came across as a very sound bloke and was very helpful when I got injured running.

I do pop in now and then, but Real Life has taken over for the last year or so and I don't seem to have much energy left for t'internet . Have still been doing lots of bike stuff though, so it's not all bad. Chuffy took a break from fora about 2 years ago, but still pops up over the road on yacf, mostly talking about Audaxy stuff.

Bonj also posts elsewhere, but his style (and name) is pretty different - and think jimboalee also lives on elsewhere...

I'm not as active as I have been in the past, but still have a look in here most days.
There's a few on here who've dropped by the wayside that I miss..
Bonj and Joe24 ain't amongst them though.
