Me either which is why I like just the standard Jura, and maybe a Highland Park. You can't really go wrong with Speyside imo.
Point of clarification for others, Highland Park is from Shetland not Speyside. It is a more mellow version of a coastal/island whisky and does come across quite Speysidey tho.

Buuichladdich is very nice, I've got a new bottle of Talisker singing my name but I have to take son 2s girlfriend home later.

I wasn't meaning Highland Park was Speyside, just making a suggestion for a nice whisky at an affordable price. I further suggested Speyside as a region as of the top of my head I couldn't think of a poor one. If we're staying in Speyside, I would give Belvenie Doublewood, nice.

Nah that's Bells. Teachers is not so bad for an affordable everyday whisky.

Maybe, I only get a malt as a treat once in a blue moon. Usually pack one if I'm off on a trip so get something to savour. In the blended market I have found Chivas regal to be pretty good and the Johnnie Walker Blue to be sublime. I must say as a cheap and cheerfull Jamesons is perfectly acceptable.

Is that the Irish stuff?

They can't even spell it.

Edradour is a very fine highland whisky. I think it claims to be Scotland's smallest distellary. I usually go for Island malts, but Edradour is very fine stuff. Mine wasnt't especially dear from the local co-op albeit on Skye. Talisker / Lagavulin / Laphroig would be my favourites as a rule - with Old Pultney, Knockando, Balvenie for a change

On our recent trip to Scotland my fiancé and I visited the Edradour distillery near Pitlochry. Edradour is one of the smallest distilleries and produces only 600 litres a day. They make 2 types, a non smoky malt labelled as Edradour, but they also make a smoky peaty number called Ballechin. The 10yo is a tasty tipple and is £42.

I raised a slight eyebrow at the bar tab
I had the opposite experience at a Best Western just north of the Scottish border a few years ago. Behind the bar they had an excellent selection of well known single malts. I asked how much they were, and they pointed me to a price list. I scanned the list and couldn't see the malts listed so I asked, and she pointed to the single line "Whisky £2.40"

That was a lovely evening

The trouble is that I'm just too much of a bloody animal. Here're you lot splashing out I-don't-know-what on a bottle of booze and I'd have it drank in a weekend. I envy you, you and your willpower and lack of being border alcohol dependant.

Look at you with your single malts that have been in the drinks cabinet for ages. Sheesh.
