True - but it is one of the best at this price point. All the reviews of it and the Defy range continually rate it very high.

At the end of the day, most frames > £200 in value should be absolutely fine.

It's a little bit pointless saying which is the best. It's better to think which ones are good frames.

Also true ..... The current Triban 3 is a great frame .... Would make a fantastic bike with Tiagra or 105 mechanicals

Mmm no, there's a reason why the 2300 equipped Canondales are £200 more expensive and it's got nothing to do with branding. Nothing wrong with the T3 (that's what I'm riding atm) but I've ridden other bikes and there are better frames out there.

I personally think the best frames on a sub 1k bike is the Allez or CAAD both frames are outstanding in quality and performance, they also have great company's standing behind the product.

AFAIK, both offer a lifetime guarantee on the frame don't they? In terms of upgrading, that's where my thoughts lie ATM.

are we all pro racers or what?
I have an uptodate 2k Eddy Merckx that gets me to work about 4 minutes quicker than my 15 year old Kraken from Halfords with panniers full.
So unless you are doing it for money then it really should not matter too much
Colour is more important!!!!!

I know specialized give a lifetime on the frame and 45% crash discount on frames, I can't speak for cannondale. One of the things which matter to me is service and support and both cannondale and specialized try to earn the customers loyalty.
Yea there are lighter bikes, better specs, better bagains... I believe many of these bargain bikes ride differently, the frame material is a little bit thinner, the frame not so responsive or lively.... Product Development, Quality, Great support and service cost but the question which remains is do you wish to pay for it?

The Allez and CAAD are great quality bikes, they feel so well put together, really solid bikes that will last you, year in year out.... I would happily have an Allez any day of the week, every single one I have ridden has made me smile.
Likewise the CAAD bikes are great they did not jump on the latest fashionable material, they just kept chipping away and evolving and developing great bikes into amazing bikes which are outstanding to ride.
A great frame IMHO is one you don't need to worry about and one which makes you smile
