True, they were always intelligently filmed, with Freds sheer enthusiasm showing through
Later series, where he looked at Industrial Heritage were equally brilliant
The only other presenter I can think of that show that level of enthusiasm/excitement about their subject are;
Adam Hart-Davies
Mark Williams (possibly chosen, so the programmes could be sold to local education authorities, as the kids would know him from Harry Potter, or 'The Fast Show'??)
And, of course, Freds successor........ Guy Martin
